Why Locals Love It
Customer Reviews
"All I can say is Iβm not much for burgers and pizza but we happened to be in the area and apparently the husband had to eat. Anyhoo, we stopped at village pizza and oh my goodness the sliders are amazing I know Iβm aging myself but there used to be a restaurant called ground round that had the best burgers and yes these are exactly the same. I almost stabbed the husband with my fork when he reached over to take the slider off of my plate thinking I wasnβt going to eat it. Then we ordered a small pizza and it was soooooo good. We definitely plan on going back we drove all the way from Stamford and Iβd go again in a heartbeat just for another burger. Oh and the fries were nice and crispy and perfect. Our meal came out to about $38 not including the tip and the portion sizes were enough for two."
"We went for a quick lunch and were not at all disappointed. What awesome pizza they sell it was so soft and perfectly made. The kids chicken fingers and french fries were also good. Gives a feeling of good old 90's inside the restaurant. The service was also very good. We had quite a great time."

The Artistry Behind Chicago's Deep-Dish
Chicago's deep-dish pizza, with its towering crust and generous toppings, is a culinary feat that defies traditional pizza norms. Created in 1943 at Pizzeria Uno, it features a flaky, buttery crust filled with layers of cheese, toppings, and a rich tomato sauce. This innovative style has become a symbol of Chicago's bold culinary identity, offering a hearty, pie-like experience that attracts pizza lovers from around the globe.
The Neapolitan Legacy: Pizza Margherita's Royal Roots
The iconic Pizza Margherita heralded a new era for this beloved dish in 1889 when Neapolitan pizzaiolo Raffaele Esposito crafted it in honor of Queen Margherita of Savoy. By using tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil, Esposito not only mirrored Italy's national colors but also elevated pizza from its humble origins as a street food to a dish worthy of royalty. Whether or not the legend is entirely factual, this culinary creation symbolized pizza's rise from peasant fare to a celebrated part of Italy's national identity.

The American Soldier's Role in Pizza's U.S. Popularity
Pizza's rise to popularity in the United States can be significantly attributed to returning World War II soldiers who developed a taste for the dish during their deployment in Italy. In the post-war boom of the 1950s, these soldiers helped spread the love for pizza beyond Italian-American enclaves, leading to the opening of numerous pizzerias and the birth of major pizza chains. This cultural shift transformed pizza from an ethnic specialty into an American staple, seen in iconic media appearances such as in episodes of 'I Love Lucy.'
