"I usually love Nauti Dolphin, but the other day I ordered the Black Pearl. Normally, it's loaded with shrimp, scallops and clams. There was less than half the usual amount, and I didn't see any scallops. It's an expensive pie, for good reason, if you get what's advertised. The flavor was fine. Half the seafood should equal half the price."

"I didn’t quite know what to expect walking into Nauti Dolphin, but after my visit I can confidently say it holds its own–if not surpasses–some of the top pizza spots out there. People were saying it was underrated and they’re right. This is right up there with my fav the one and only Modern Apizza."

The Deep Dish Debate

Chicago-style deep-dish pizza, known for its buttery crust and towering layers of cheese and toppings, originated in 1943 at Pizzeria Uno, thanks to the efforts of Ike Sewell and Ric Riccardo. This style contrasts sharply with the thin, foldable slices of New York pizza, sparking a friendly rivalry between the two cities. The debate over which is superior continues to engage pizza lovers nationwide, highlighting regional pride and diverse tastes.

Culture

Pizza's World Record Holder

The world record for the largest pizza ever made was achieved in 2012 in Los Angeles, where a pizza measuring 1,261.65 square meters (13,570 square feet) was created. This colossal pizza, named 'Ottavia' in honor of the first Roman emperor Augustus, was not only a feat of culinary engineering but also entirely gluten-free. It required a team of chefs and substantial quantities of dough, cheese, and sauce to bring this record-breaking vision to life.

Pizza vs. Calzone: A Cheesy Rivalry

While pizza reigns supreme as a flat, open-faced delicacy, the calzone offers a delightful twist as a folded, stuffed alternative. Originating from Naples like its pizza cousin, the calzone is essentially a pizza folded in half, with fillings sealed inside a doughy pocket. This portable, hand-held meal became popular as a street food in Italy, providing a convenient way to enjoy pizza flavors on the go.
